About Us

Our History

For over 70 years, our friends, residents, professionals, visitors, students & parents have been celebrating events at Fries Cafe for our famous cocktails and finely brewed beer.

Once a Kroger’s grocery store, the Fries Family established Fries Cafe in the 1930s. There were many memorable patrons and events during this period, the most notable must be the inaugurations of the Fries Friendly Frolickers.

Though this social group no longer exists, the camaraderie and friendship among friends and colleagues that gave rise to this unique group of individuals, continues to exist here today.

Later, Henrietta aka “Chic” or later known as “Mom” and Jim Robbins took ownership in the late sixties. By serving fantastic lunches and continuing the Fries’ traditions, the Robbins left distinguishing impressions on many of our friends still to this day.

After Mom, Pat O’Neil owned and operated the bar for a marvelous few years in the late eights.

Today, Kris Lemmon and Jerome Freese own and operate Fries Cafe with a little help from their magnificent staff, loyal happy hour regulars and awesome late night patrons.
